This is a great book for SolidWorks users. I learned many new techniques going though the exersizes. In spite of four years of industrial exprience using SolidWorks, I would have failed the CSWA exam without this book, becasue many of the modleing methods on the test are not used in my industry.

As all colleges do, we offer adult evening classes on programs which our advisory board recommends. This semester, we offered our first evening SolidWorks CSWA Certification program. To my surprise, the class was filled in four days with 20 students, some from industry, and some from our engineering program.
I use the SolidWorks CSWA Certification Guide in class. The book is a comprehensive review and practice package for the certification. Every chapter focuses your study and tests your knowledge of the subject through specially designed assessment exercises. What is especially great about this book is that it includes self study sections with the initial and final models.
For anybody starting to prepare for the CSWA exam, this is the book you should be looking at.

I totally agree with the last reviewer, the CSWA exam is not a walk in the park. I had two semesters of SolidWorks at a local Community College and have been using SolidWorks since graduation last May.
In September, my manager requested that I take and pass the CSWA Certification program. This book is a very reliable resource for anyone interested in taking and passing the CSWA exam. I used this book as my major resource for preparing for the exam in which I passed yesterday......yeah baby!!!!
Actually I did quite well - thanks to this book. Else my chances would have been slimmer. Note: One of my co-workers took it the 1st time this week w/o using a certification study guide like this book and that person failed.
The book covers about 99% of the exam, "concepts and question types". The book is organized by exam sections, which is good because you know you're not wasting time on studying something that you do not need to know for the exam.
The cool thing about the CSWA Certification program is that it is the biggest active industry CAD exam. Now that I passed the exam, does this mean that I will be getting a raise???

Excellent exam preparation book Feb 22, 2008

I enjoy the modeling techniques presented in the book which I did not encounter in my Solidworks training; it is always a good practice to learn for any software from different prospective. So this book does not only prepare you to the exam it also teaches you the most effective and smartest modeling techniques.
I pass the exam with 80% mark, but be careful guys, the parts in the exam was NOT easy.

Do you want to pass the CSWA exam? Aug 15, 2007

If you didn't know already, the CSWA exam is no joke. The CSWA certification is setting the CAD industry standard for fundamental engineering design skill sets.
I work in a large Semiconductor engineering company in Boston, MA. I've been using SolidWorks for 9 months, (8 years of AutoCAD) and have taken most of the local SolidWorks VAR training classes. Part of our internal TQM program / yearly evaluation program is to obtain industry certifications and extended college credits.
I used this book to review for the certification exam. The book is structured very well and everything is explained clearly in an easy-to-follow manner. If you read the book cover to cover and perform the tutorials, you stand an excellent chance in pasting the exam. This is a great book. I did and obtained a 95!
